A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a non-profit, community based organisation run by volunteers that develops housing or other assets at permanently affordable levels for long-term community benefit.
A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a model where the CLT ensures that any occupiers pay for the use of buildings and services at prices they can afford. The difference between the cost of the home or asset and the market value are kept by the CLT who holds the asset or equity in trust for long-term community benefit.
Parity Trust can provide finance to CLT's who may find a shortfall between any funding, grants and investment already obtained. If you are part of a CLT and would like more information about ways in which we could help, please contact 02392 375921.
For more information about what a Community Land Trust is, or if you would like to know where CLT's are operating currently, please view the Community Land Trust website.
Wickham Community Land Trust is a registered charity and the provider of an affordable housing project in Wickham, in the Winchester District. It provides eight rented and shared ownership properties, for local people who cannot afford the local high prices and do not qualify for rented social housing and cannot afford to purchase a property outright. Parity Trust has been working with the Wickham Community Land Trust since November 2010, in partnership with other social banks, Winchester City Council and Hyde Housing Association. Parity Trust has invested in the Trust by providing a significant short and long term loan facility. Parity Trust has also given general support to the Community Land Trust to assist potential shared ownership applicants to access the mortgage market and also provided advice on sourcing match funding in the early stages of negotiation.
